About Us

My photo
Charlotte , NC, United States
I began coding in 1992. Throughout the years, I have been able to work for physicians who trusted me and benefited from my work. My husband decided that we should open CGS Billing Services in 2004. With his support, we are now able to offer medical coding bootcamps that last as long as 16 weeks. Please read my article on page 49 of the January 2011 issue of Coding Edge. (Published by AAPC) So sign up today! Each month, we will post interesting updates related to medical billing and coding.

Is this Career for You?

If you search google for medical billing and coding, you will find a host of schools that offer training. If you call, you will be encouraged to sign up for class. Of course, that is normal. However, you need to determine if this career is for you. I mean, you need to REALLY be sure.

Ponder over the following personality traits:

1. Independent: Can you complete tasks without direction? Do you have to be encouraged constantly. Many billers and coders have assignments and they are expected to complete them within a specific time frame.

2. Decision maker: Can you make logical decisions? Do you constantly need to consult with others prior to deciding what should be done?

3. Detail oriented: Do you pay attention to the little things? Are you capable of looking for trends?

4. Organizational skills: You must be organized. You will handle a variety of forms and important documents.

5. Computer literate: Do you know how to use a computer? The basics: attach documents, use word, and etc

What Are the Students Saying?

Student Comments:

I just want to thank you so much for working with me. I know there were times when things had to be expedited, but you met the challenge with flying colors. I also wanted to thank you for giving CGS Billing Services an opportunity to show what they can do to help students get credentialed without so many months of schooling and at a fraction of the cost. I hope your day goes well and as things continue to unfold, I will keep you posted.

Thank you again,

Annette Marshall
