How to Cope with Stress

Working in the medical office can be an amazing experience! After all, employees assist patients, learn from the physicians, and even get free meals from drug representatives occasionally.  Yet, there are some stressful environments.  What can you do to deal with a stressful workplace?

1. Remember you are not the only one person dealing with stress.  In fact, some stress is good if you can learn to manage it.

2. Be realistic.  Do not set unrealistic expectations.  Every claim will not be perfect! You may not always meet the Medicaid cut off date! Don't expect others to give you more than they can give... that will only elevate your stress level.

3.  Do not become obsessed with being "the best".  If nothing else matters to you except your advancement, you may need to do a self-examination.  Learn to love and enjoy life.  Get fixated on other things and don't let thoughts of  your advancement dominate you.

4.  Do not procrastinate! Someone told me this phrase", Early in the day,
early in the week, early in the month, early in the year".  Make important things the priority.

5.  Do not dwell on your mistakes.  No one is perfect! Dwelling on your failures will only make life worst.  Dwell on your accomplishments, even the small ones.
